The mimetizade, though not dissimilar to its parent strain in many ways, appeared to operate under a different set of parameters. Its duplications were more random, and its paths, more direct. When it persisted, it thrived, but most infestations fizzled out with little mark left behind.
During the renaissance that elevated each industry in the early VHZ era, the mimetizade became a point of curiosity for those programmers who had utilized other strains (such as the benzidrove or zarodroni) with voracious greed.
The mimetidrene's debug function, though well-documented, was still not understood at the time. With the intervention of the Telemetrians still twenty years away, there was little opportunity to pair hell wave technology to the inert strangers. Underground "inventors" with working machinery were rare, in demand, and...and as can be expected, did not communicate with commercial labs.
And so, when the mimetizade's unreleased entry was discovered, the lack of a physical body was no obstacle to the institutes, the topmost were well equipped with hell-enabling supplemental machinery and fear-driving playrooms within which the first attempts at the simulation mimetizade were made. Perhaps fortunately, it could not be developed beyond an alpha build, as the secondary bombings were now shaking even well-populated metropolitan areas, leaving little room for such whimsical pursuits.

Oh, how embarrassing! We didn't even finish the scale image for this one! the subject laughs. Wow, that should show you just how pressed for time we were getting. I think everyone thought there was a big secret to it, but really, I think a lot of that information was just placeholder text that never got swapped out.
The working conditions we were under, though...can you believe that by the end of it, they were starting to barricade us into the building? Yeah, alright, part of it was for our safety, but...making something like this at the time...I guess the few of us left were really playing stritch groound, trying to get one last paycheck out before the flood of social outrage caught up with us, tore us up – literally.
Oh, right, this strain, though...hmm. I think that just before we left, I started writing some kind of supplement about the strains with those scribbled on markings – there were quite a few of them, right? I like them, but I wonder if I still would have designed it that way, if I'd never gotten involved with...with...
the subject's voice trails off.
