STAY SAFE WITH STRANGERS
Presented by Bliss City Rescue (contact Chuck!)
SO YOU'RE A SENSITIVE
To those first discovering their sensitivity, it can feel as if a fantastical and mysterious world has been opened up to them. This is true! Strangers are fascinating and often wondrous phenomena, and their study pushes new frontiers of science and naturalism. However, sensitivity also carries potential risks as well as personal responsibilities. Learning the ins and outs of living as a sensitive may make the difference between life and death!

KNOW YOUR TYPE
Sensitives come in a number of different varieties, each with their own special properties. These properties can affect how strangers might interact with you, and are important to consider when thinking about stranger safety. Knowing your sensitivity type is important when frequenting areas known to host strangers, as it will determine what precautions you may need to take.

STRANGER ENCOUNTER? REMEMBER "R.I.D.E.S."!
This acronym can help keep you and others safe in areas known to harbor stranger populations, as well as help Bliss City Rescue monitor stranger activity and potential problem strains in your neighborhood.

WHAT'S IN YOUR BACKPACK?
Preparedness is key, whether you're doing some stranger-spotting of your own or just going about your daily life. Not all stranger encounters will be on your own terms, so prepare accordingly! This list is general advice, and relies on your own judgement to include safety measures specific to your situation. Note that some strains may render electronics unreliable; consider low-tech alternatives as necessary.
APPAREL
  • GLOVES help minimize skin-to-skin contact with strangers and any substances they may produce.
  • FACIAL PROTECTION such as face masks and eye protection are helpful in dealing with caustic or noxious strains, especially indoors or in close-quarter encounters.
  • LAYERED CLOTHING is important, as stranger populations can occur in a wide variety of environments, and weather conditions may change suddenly when out exploring.
  • ATHLETIC FOOTWEAR prevents slips and stumbles when out exploring, and when a quick escape is necessary.
SUPPLIES
  • FIRST AID is essential, as injury can result from stranger encounters or urban exploration in general. This may include bandages, gauze, disinfectant, and painkillers, but explorers ought to include strain-specific treatments and preventatives depending on known stranger activity in the area.
  • FOOD AND WATER should be included as necessary. Strangers can be dangerous, but so is dehydration!
  • WET WIPES allow explorers to clean their hands and other personal items in the case that they are sullied with any unknown, hazardous, or unpleasant substances. Additionally, washing one's hands before eating is good practice.
EQUIPMENT
  • A JOURNAL allows explorers to document any strains they encounter, as well as relevant encounter locations or other information.
  • A CAMERA provides a quick and effective means of recording strangers for later identification.
  • MULTITOOLS are a helpful addition to any explorer's kit, and blades or other sharp implements can be used for self-defence if absolutely necessary.
  • A FLASHLIGHT is essential, either for exploring poorly-lit indoor spaces or outdoor spaces at night. A particularly heavy flashlight can also serve as self-defence in a pinch.
  • BINOCULARS can allow explorers to maintain greater distances between themselves and potentially dangerous or unidentified strains.
  • A GPS OR MAP can serve as a lifeline when exploring an area that is not well known, or during an unfamiliar time of day. Some strangers have mental, psychological, or spatial effects that can be disorienting, and a navigational aid can be instrumental in ending the encounter favorably.
  • A PHONE allows explorers to contact help in case of an emergency.
MISC
  • ROPE can aid in saving oneself or another from a dangerous situation, and can also affix objects together. For climbing, explorers should make sure they have the proper training and equipment before attempting, as falls may result in severe injury.
  • PERSONAL ID helps Bliss City Rescue teams or other first responders identify you in case of a medical emergency.
  • RESEALABLE BAGS help store any trash produced while exploring. Take only pictures, leave only footprints!
Most importantly, when going stranger-spotting, bringing a BUDDY is a vital safety measure. Many strangers can pose a risk to humans, especially when they are not quickly identified. Additional sets of eyes and hands are instrumental to ensuring a positive outcome.

STAY SAFE!
Stranger-spotting is a rewarding hobby and makes positive contributions to the scientific and practical understanding of these creatures. However, explorers should leave stranger management and removal to teams approved by Bliss City Rescue. Maintain a respectful distance from strangers you encounter, and report unusual or dangerous stranger activity to a local Bliss City Rescue representative or patrol officer, or by calling the following toll-free number:
