The teredruzari (/tɛɹədruˈzɑɹi/) is a spindly-legged sub-strain of the teredroni which possesses only a single pair of legs, and less clearly defined eyes. Its body is slick to the touch, and its legs, straw-filled and flimsy. Unlike its parent strain, the teredruzari's body can be yanked over with ease. Such a disruption proves invariably fatal to the stranger.
Compared to the teredroni, the teredruzari speaks with far less frequency, and with a more garbled and raspy voice. Its whisper resonates through iron; wrought-fences and old streetlights bring out its full cacophony, though it maintains such chattiness only by rare whim. Otherwise, the elusive x x x unstable stranger shares most characteristics with its parent strain.
The teredruzari generates in only the slimiest of back alleys. Its form (crumpled to the excess) starts off knotted and slick upon a ground that has already x x x been drenched with gallons of liquid in dozens of forms. Upon a pavement or gravel (and soaking up some of the alcohol or brawl blood or other splashed thrill) it x x x until reaching its full adult size.
With its seedy and lascivious personality, the teredruzari differs from its parent strain in subtle but notable manners. Though no less elusive or despondent, its focus tends towards the x x x x x x x carnal, with its "hand" flipping over the thousands of x x x x x scattered flyers and billfolds1 that lend their x x x x x x to the streets.
Though the stranger does not socialize, per se, it does display some group behaviours, and is usually found xx x x x x in clusters. When two individuals move within x x x of one another, their motions synchronize. This continues until some obstacle (a crate filled with imported cans, a dumpster filled with black styrofoam) prevents movement in one member of the pair. (Though x x x x x impractical, larger synchronizations can x x x x x x theoretically occur.)
The teredruzari does not seek out sensitives in a state of inebriation – instead, its quarry are those hardened, stiff-hand calliriants whose x x x x x x x x x x travels take them into such a narrow, thin affair. Upon and under x x x hands entwined. Night breath turning steamy, the stranger paces itself, slow and sticky, into the x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x until the car keys in the back pocket stop their jingle2 and the boot-crunch on the grit gets slow. Its attack, though x x x x abrupt, leaves with x x x x no time to waste, the stranger x x x x x x x x x x x x x x and left there, dying3 on the greasy earth.
Its effect is simple, but insidious – with each passing day (and soon enough, each passing second), the teredruzari's touch scrapes more away x x x x from memory, from fatigue, from the x x x x x x x x x x x x x x love-torn, broken-hearted who with all their scattered letters littering the x x x x x x x anthems x x x x x x x of the fall.
The teredruzari's severence of this x x x x x x foundation, however, is not limited to its x x x x x x x immediate surroundings. The effect bears a remarkable property of x x x x and "loose detachment", granting it the generous ability to x x x x x x x x and x x x x x into the structure of x x x x itself.
Inside a framework that has otherwise been somewhat x x x x x loosely defined, the teredruzari removes4 from x x x x x x x x x x x any traces or x x x x x reminders of the pain that it has both inflicted and "endured," x x x x x x x the audience left with no x x x x x x x x x x x x to remedy5 the x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x and effect.
The full breadth of its victims x x x x x x x x x x now left with no way x x x x x x x x x to reclaim x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x and determine the x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x refrain, from all further action it x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x and from x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x it returns.
There is no long-lost x x x x x x x x x whimper x x x x x x at the end of such a fickle spite display. What x x x x x x x x x x x x x x is x x x x x x x x x and dashed, and x x x x x x x x x draws nearer x x x x x x x x x x x in x x x x x x x the last to sway.
